Welcome to ScanApp — Document Scanner & Converter. This Privacy Policy describes how Md. Razwanul Hasan ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the ScanApp mobile application.
By using ScanApp, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:
- Account Information: Email address, display name, and profile photo when you sign in with Google or register with email.
- Scanned Documents: Images and PDFs you create are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to Firebase.
- OCR Text Data: Text extracted from scanned documents via Google ML Kit is processed fully on-device and stored only in your local database.
- Device Information: Device model, OS version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
- Usage Analytics: Anonymous crash reports collected via Firebase Crashlytics to improve app stability.
- Camera & Storage Access: Required to scan documents and save files — we do not access your gallery beyond files you explicitly select.
- To provide core scanning, OCR, QR/barcode reading, and document export features.
- To authenticate your account securely via Firebase Authentication.
- To sync your documents across devices (only if you opt in to cloud sync).
- To send push notifications about app updates (only with your permission).
- To diagnose crashes and bugs through anonymous crash reporting.
- To check for app updates and notify you of new versions on the Play Store.
- Local Storage: Documents are stored in an SQLite database with AES-256 encryption via Flutter Secure Storage.
- Cloud Storage: If you enable cloud sync, data is stored in Firebase Realtime Database secured by Firebase Authentication rules.
- Biometric Lock: The app supports fingerprint, Face ID, or PIN lock to prevent unauthorised access.
- No Third-Party Selling: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties.
- Password-Protected PDFs: Export passwords are set by you and are never transmitted to our servers.
ScanApp uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging, and Crashlytics — Google Privacy Policy
- Google ML Kit: On-device OCR text recognition — no data is sent to Google servers. ML Kit Terms
- Google Sign-In: OAuth authentication using your Google account.
- Camera: Required to capture documents and scan QR/barcodes.
- Storage / Media: Required to save scanned PDFs and images to your device.
- Biometric / Device Credentials: Optional — used for app lock feature only.
- Internet: Required for Firebase sync, authentication, and push notifications.
- Notifications: Optional — for receiving app update and admin notifications.
You may revoke permissions in your device settings at any time, though some features may become unavailable.
- Local documents remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- Cloud-synced data is retained while your account is active.
- To delete your account and all associated cloud data, contact us at the email below. We will process the request within 30 days.
- Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days.
ScanApp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, via an in-app notification.
Continued use of ScanApp after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
